McAlester is a city in Pittsburg County, Oklahoma, located three miles (5 km) southwest of the McAlester Regional Airport. It is the county seat and the largest city in the county. McAlester is a vibrant city with a rich history and a wide range of cultural attractions. The city is home to a variety of museums, including the National Guard Museum, the McAlester Army Ammunition Plant Museum, and the Chickasaw National Capitol Museum. By train, the closest route is the Heartland Flyer, which runs from Oklahoma City to Fort Worth and stops at the McAlester station. By taxi, you can take a taxi from downtown McAlester to the airport for approximately $20.
